5/26/2006 4:00 PM BabylonWI 82The West Islip Freshman Baseball Team completed an undefeated season on Thursday by beating Babylon 8-2. The team was never losing at any point in the season. West Islip had the lead in every inning they played throughout the year. The team finished with a .332 batting average, 2.23 E.R.A., and outscoring their opponents 104 to 39. In their final game, Dominic Passarelli pitched a complete game, three hitter striking out nine hitters. Paul Valentine went 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Chris Fernandez added two hits and two RBIs. Joe Santopetro's two run double in the third proved to be the hit that broke open the game. Passarelli finished the year 5-0 on the mound with a 0.64 E.R.A. Watch out for these guys in the next few years.
5/23/2006 4:00 PM NorthportNorthport145West Islip is now a flawless 12-0 after beating up on Northport 14-5. Joe Gallucci was once again solid in his fifth victory pitching 4 1/3 innings striking out seven hitters. Gallucci only allowed three hits on the day. Dominic Passarelli went 1 for 2 with 4 rbis on the day. Passarelli also walked twice and scored two runs. Sean Murphy, Paul Valentine, and Matt Kaplan scored two runs each. West Islip's seven run fifth inning broke open the game. Come out and watch West Islip play Babylon at home on Thursday as the team attempts to complete a perfect season.

Dominic Passarelli pitched a complete game shutout, striking out nine batters in his fourth victory. He lowered his E.R.A. to 0.54 on the year. Chris Fernandez drove in Joe Salanitri to give West Islip an early 1-0 lead. Joe Santopetro then drove in Chris Fernandez and Sean Murphy on his two run single. Santopetro, Fernandez, and Eric Toohey each had two hits on the day. West Islip will play at Northport on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
5/18/2006 4:00 PM LindenhurstWI 43The West Islip Freshman Team is now 10-0 after beating Lindenhurst 4-3 in a tough battle. Sean Murphy is a stud! Murphy drove in Joe Salanitri and Chris Fernandez with his first inning ground rule double. Murphy then hit a shot for his second homerun of the season giving West Islip a 4-0 lead. Joe Gallucci pitched six solid innings striking out five hitters for his fourth win of the season. Paul Valentine came in the seventh for a 1-2-3 inning to get his first save of the year. Dan Ragusa went 2-3 with a double and a rbi.
5/17/2006 4:00 PM Ward MelvilleWard Melville85The Freshman Baseball Team (9-0) remained undefeated by beating Ward Melville 8-5. Joe Santopetro got his first win of the season pitching four strong innings. Sean Murphy came in and shut the door on Ward Melville pitching the final three innings of the game, allowing only one run on two hits. Murphy was once again impressive at the plate going 2 for 4 driving in two runs. Paul Valentine had two hits and scored a run. Joe Salanitri and Chris Fernandez each scored two runs in the game. Come watch unbeaten West Islip play Lindenhurst on Thursday at 4 p.m.!
5/11/2006 4:00 PM North BabylonNorth Babylon84Still unbeaten, the Freshman Baseball team beat North Babylon 8-4, improving their record to 8-0. Murph is on fire! Sean Murphy, who has been West Islip's hottest hitter of late, pitched six innings, striking out seven batters to earn his second win of the season. He also added two hits and got WI's first rbi of the game. Matt Kaplan went 2 for 4 driving in three runs. He also scored two runs in the game. Dan Ragusa went 2 for 2 and came in to close out the victory in the 7th inning.
5/10/2006 4:00 PM Walt WhitmanWI 73The Freshman Baseball Team moved to 7-0 after defeating Walt Whitman 7-3. Sean Murphy's grand slam in the first inning driving in Paul Valentine, Chris Fernandez, and Matt Kaplan gave West Islip an early lead. Murphy finished the game going 2 for 3 with five rbis. Chris Fernandez, West Islip's stud hitter, hit his second homerun of the season, going 2 for 2 scoring three runs. Joe Gallucci got his third win of the season pitching six strong innings striking out nine hitters without walking a batter. Come out and watch the West Islip Baseball Program turn heads.
5/8/2006 4:00 PM BrentwoodWI61The West Islip Freshman Baseball Team improved its flawless record to 6-0 behind the amazing pitching of Dominick Passarelli. Passarelli pitched six solid innings without allowing an earned run. He is now 3-0 on the year with 0.74 E.R.A. Joe Salanitri got things started for West Islip driving in Paul Valentine with a first inning triple. The big hit was Joe Gallucci's first homerun of the season. Gallucci's drive over the center field fence destroyed any hope of Brentwood coming back. Joe Santopetro drove in two runs for West Islip. Sean Murphy went a stellar three for three in the game. Come watch undefeated West Islip play Walt Whitman on Wednesday. They are fun to watch!
5/4/2006 4:00 PM LongwoodWI32West Islip remained undefeated by beating Longwood, who was also yet to lose. West Islip won the intense game 3-2. Joe Gallucci pitched a complete game, one hitter, allowing no earned runs while striking out seven Longwood hitters. Joe Santopetro drove in Chris Fernandez in the first to give West Islip an early lead. Joe Gallucci then drove in Dan Ragusa to give WI a 2-0 lead. Paul Valentine added his first homerun in the fifth, which turned out to be the game winner. Joe Salanitri went 2 for 3. Longwood left the bases loaded with two outs in the seventh.
5/1/2006 4:00 PM Shoreham Wading RiverSWR134The West Islip Freshman Baseball Team moved to 4-0 by beating Shoreham Wading River 13-4. Dominick Passarelli got his second win pitching six strong innings allowing only two earned runs. Chris Fernandez got things started in the first with a triple driving in Paul Valentine and Joe Salanitri. Salanitri went 2 for 4 with three runs batted in igniting two West Islip rallies. West Islip finished with twelve hits on the afternoon. They will play a tough Longwood team 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Chris Fernandez hit his first homerun of the season. He had three rbis and scored three times. The hitting star of the day was Joe Santepetro going 4 for 4 with two doubles and 4 rbis. Joe Salanitri added two key hits for undefeated West Islip.
